Normally the pistes are officially open mid-December and in a good year they may start to run the lifts from the first weekend in December. However this year the French Alps have already had a good coverage of snow and the resorts of Chamonix, Flaine, Les Gets and Avoriaz are all open for weekend skiing from the 24^th November.

Temperatures are expected to plummet again on Sunday the 25^th and this should bring more snow to the slopes and ensure that there is plenty of the white stuff around for early season skiers and Christmas week.

If you’re lucky enough to own a property in this part of the French Alps then you’ll find that flights to Geneva are currently available from as little as £25.00, so a weekend on the pistes is certainly an affordable option. If you haven’t yet taken the plunge and bought your alpine property then why not combine business with pleasure and come out to view and ski for a couple of days? With a wet and cold weekend on the cards for many parts of the UK, an alpine getaway is the perfect escape from a dreary British winter.
